This modern take on a Peter Pan collar by Elizabeth Nicodemus, also known as In The Rows, features a textured basket-weave stitch, folded trim and subtle shaping for a polished finish. Inspired by the silhouette of faux fur-trimmed collars, the Paola collar is designed as a versatile layering piece with two closure options. Or approx. 184 yds / 168 m of DK-weight yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Swish DK by KnitPicks or Pure DK by West Yorkshire Spinners. **Needles:** US 4 / 3.5 mm 24" / 60 cm circular needles for body US 2.5 / 3 mm 40" / 100 cm or longer circular needles for trim. **Notions:** Stitch markers, scrap yarn, and tools for wet or steam blocking. **Optional:** One 2- or 4-hole button (approx. 0.5" / 1.25 cm circumference) for button and loop closure. CONSTRUCTION The collar is worked flat from the top down in basket-weave texture. It is shaped primarily using increases, with decreases and short rows being used for the collar points. Once the body of the collar is complete stitches are picked up and knitted around the entire border to work the trim in the round. The trim is then bound off, folded, and sewn down. Finally, stitches are picked up at center front to make the closure (either a concealed button and loop, or i-cord ties). Shown in the modeled photos with the WS on top.
