For me, a detachable collar is exactly that: knitting it was so fascinating that I didn’t want to put this few-hour mini-project down until it was completely finished. A collar is an excellent way to use up lonely skeins and experiment with new yarns and shades on a small scale. And yes, one fine morning, it will certainly find its place on top of one of my shirts, too. If you want to bring a touch of softness to your style, see how a collar in a contrasting colour looks against a dark knit. If you’re a fan of a strict, solid-colour look, make the collar in the exact same shade as your collared shirt. * FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Neck Circumference: 47 cm / 18.75". Height: 13 cm / 5.25". MATERIALS Yarn Yarn 1: Fonty Ambiance (100% merino, 120 m / 131 yds – 50 g). 50 g in the colourway light blue (360). Or 120 m / 130 yds of DK-weight yarn. Yarn 2: Fonty Coeur D’angora (80% angora, 20% merino, 108 m / 118 yds – 25 g). 60 g in the colourway light blue (340). Or 260 m / 280 yds of fingering-weight yarn. The collar is worked holding both yarns together. Tip: One skein of each yarn is enough if you make the drawstring from a different yarn or replace it with, for example, a silk ribbon. Needles 4 mm (US 6) circular needle. Notions Tapestry needle, a thinner spare needle for attaching the drawstring casing, drawstring stoppers (optional). GAUGE 14 sts = 10 cm / 4" in Stockinette St with 4 mm (US 6) needle. You can measure the gauge at the drawstring casing. Gauge is not critical, but it will affect yarn consumption. CONSTRUCTION The collar is worked flat, starting from the neckline. First, a drawstring casing is worked and secured, followed by the lace chart is.
