Judith

Judith is a pleated lace collar inspired by the ruffs of the 16th and 17th centuries, designed to pair easily with both shirts and sweaters. The lace motif comes from Hitomi Shida’s Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible, and the design is named after the Dutch Golden Age painter Judith Leyster. SIZE One size. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS **Length of the ruffle section:** 13.75" / 35 cm. **Depth of the ruffle section:** 2.75" / 7 cm. **Length of the i-cord edge:** 43.5" / 110 cm. MATERIALS **Yarn:** 1 skein of Laine x Novita 4ply (70% Falkland wool, 15% Bluefaced Leicester wool, 15% Bluefaced Kerry Hill wool, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), in the colourway Cloudy Cotton. Or approx. 131 yds / 120 m of fingering-weight yarn. **Needles:** US 2 / 2.5 mm 32" / 80 cm circular needles for Judith Patt and US 3 / 3.25 mm 24" / 60 cm needles or DPNs for i-cord. **Notions:** 15 stitch markers. GAUGE 57 sts x 40 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 2 / 2.5 mm needles for Judith Patt, flattened out and steamed. CONSTRUCTION The pattern starts with knitting an i-cord. Stitches are then picked up along the i-cord, after which the chart is worked. Finally, the lace is steamed and folded into pleats.
