**Sturdy stripes shawl** The idea of designing my own shawl pattern was born in December 2025, when I first enjoyed unwrapping **a yarn advent calendar**. Those 24 little skeins of 20 grams each deserved a special, personal destination. Because I also love knitting stripes and wanted the different colors to blend more softly into one another, the design of Sturdy stripes emerged: **45 stripes of vertical stripes, which are knitted horizontally due to the direction of knitting, and in which the contrast color of each stripe becomes the main color of the next stripe.** Besides advent calendars, the pattern is also perfectly suited for **scrappy yarns**. The pattern includes **a practical overview diagram** indicating **how many grams of yarn are needed per stripe**. This allows you to plan your color scheme very precisely and **use up even the smallest yarn leftovers**. It is also fun to choose, for example, a small number of 50 g or 100 g skeins and repeat those colours more frequently. The possibilities are endless! I knitted my sample in sock yarn, but of course **any fingering-weight yarn can be used**. The pattern is available in Dutch and English (seperate pdfs)
