**DETAILS**
My hope for this project is to spark your creativity and sense of adventure! Don’t be afraid to play with different yarn weights, adjust the size, and use up your stash. Try different yarn textures, holding multiple strands together, or using handspun for a truly personal touch. The rhythmic stitch pattern offers a soothing flow, while the simple construction and adaptable sizing means you can use what you’ve got. This is definitely a pattern to knit again and again! This shawl is a shallow triangle, knit sideways using Half-Fishermen's Rib. Do you love this stitch? Check out my other patterns: [Birch Pullover][2] (which I'm wearing with my Jaunty), [Stria Cardigan][3], [Stria Hat][4], [Inclinations Shawl][5], and [Inclinations Cowl][6]!

**YARN REQUIREMENTS**
*These are just approximations. Total yarn usage will depend on the yarn you use (fiber content, ply, etc.), your personal gauge, how big you make your shawl and any modifications you may make. Remember, this shawl is perfect for using up odds and ends and playing with different yarn weights and sizes! Keep a scale handy and follow the directions in the notes on pg. 3 to use what you've got!*
-Sample 1 (Lace/Light Fingering) - Handspun 100% BFL Wool/2-ply/16 WPI) Approximately 100 g/450 yds/412 m
-Sample 2 (Sport/Light DK) - Handspun 100% Mixed Wool Fibers/2-ply/12 WPI) Approximately 212 g/670 yds/613 m
-Sample 3 (Worsted) - Handspun 100% BFL Wool/3-ply/9 WPI) Approximately 315 g/990 yds/905 m
-Sample 4 (Heavy Worsted/Aran) - The Wandering Flock Fluff (35% Baby Suri Alpaca/15% Wool/50% Pima Cotton) Approximately 200 g/524 yds/479 m - 4 skeins Sky blue
**SUGGESTED NEEDLES**
*Needle size will depend on what weight yarn you use to create a fabric you like. Just keep in mind that Half-Fishermen's rib creates a looser fabric that grows quite a bit with blocking, so it is best to size down with your needles. Here are the needles I used for my samples to get you started:*
-Sample 1 (Lace/Light Fingering) - US 2/2.75 mm - 32”/80 cm circular recommended
-Sample 2 (Sport/Light DK) - US 5/3.75 mm - 32”/80 cm circular recommended
-Sample 3 (Worsted) - US 6/4 mm - 32”/80 cm circular recommended
-Sample 4 (Heavy Worsted/Aran) - US 7/4.5 mm - 32”/80 cm circular recommended
**NOTIONS**
Tapestry needle, kitchen scale if you want to use up all your yarn, and a row counter is handy!
**GAUGE**
*Totally dependent on your yarn and needle choices. But here are the gauges I worked at to get you started! (Measured over half-fisherman’s rib, after blocking.)*
-Sample 1 (Lace/Light Fingering) - 28.5 sts & 52 rows = 4”/10 cm
-Sample 2 (Sport/Light DK) - 25 sts & 36 rows = 4”/10 cm
-Sample 3 (Worsted) - 21 sts & 36 rows = 4”/10 cm
-Sample 4 (Heavy Worsted/Aran) - 18 sts & 32 rows = 4”/10 cm
