A classic checkerboard texture creates depth, while eyelets frame the squares and let the light in. You'll know the repeat by heart in no time, so you can let your hands take over while your mind wanders. Every row makes visible progress, and as you watch the small squares take shape on your needles, it's impossible to put down. You work this wide and shallow bottom-up triangle with sport-weight yarn, and the size is easy to adjust. Keep it small or make it huge. Either way, the best part is watching it grow. YARN Two skeins of De Rerum Natura Ulysse (100% Merino; 185 m / 202 yds per 50 g). Shown in color Doré. Or approximately 352 m / 385 yds of similar sport weight yarn. NEEDLES Size 4 mm / US 6 needles or size to obtain pattern gauge Although you work this shawl flat, I recommend 80–100 cm / 32–40 inch circular needles to accommodate the growing number of stitches.
