Siuslaw (sigh-YOU-slaw) is the name of an Indian tribe, a river and a national forest in Oregon. Siuslaw is believed to mean “river” in the tribe’s ancient language. This narrow scarf can be worn in any way you like. It’s reversible, so both sides look presentable. There are 23 stitches and only 2 simple pattern rows for the body of the scarf, making this pattern a great one for new knitters or when you’re distracted but need to keep your hands busy. The scarf is 4.5 inches wide at gauge but gauge is up to you. Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, YO, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch. Gauge is **not** important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance. 40 yards of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK yarn will make 10 inches of this scarf at gauge. One skein of 24/7 Cotton DK yarn will make about 6 feet of scarf. Length of scarf is up to you.
