Named for the Miura-ori, a Japanese folding technique built from a repeating grid, the Miura Socks turn that same sense of structure into graphic colorwork. There are no long floats to snag or fuss with. It’s the kind of colorwork that looks striking yet is not complicated. All colorwork is charted. SIZE 1 Finished measurements: Leg length: 14.5 cm / 5.75". Leg/Foot Circumference: 20 cm / 8". Foot Length: 24 cm / 9.5" (adjustable). YARN Fingering-weight sock yarn (approx. 400 m / 100 g). The sample socks are knitted from Laurel Knits SuperSock (85% superwash merino wool, 15% nylon, 400 m / 465 yds / 100 g), colorways Fields of Gold and Common Sense. YARDAGE MC 50 g (212 m / 232 yds) CC 30 g (130 m / 142 yds) NEEDLES 2 mm / US 0 and 2.25 mm / US 1 circular needles 80–100 cm / 32–40" (You can use DPNs if preferred). NOTIONS Darning needle, stitch markers. GAUGE 36 sts x 34 rnds = 10 cm / 4" for colorwork NOTES The socks are worked cuff-down with a classic French heel and wedge toes. Gusset decreases are placed along the sole, leaving the colorwork motif uninterrupted across the instep and leg.
