The colorwork leg motif is adapted from a 1970s Hungarian knitting book passed down by the designer’s adopted grandmother. Vesper is named for evening prayers in her honor. The foot is simple stockinette with classic shaping. Knit them in high contrast for a bold, graphic look, or in muted shades for something quieter. SIZES 1 (2) Finished measurements Leg Circumference: 20 (22.25) cm / 8 (8.9)″ Leg Length: 18.5 cm / 7.5″ Foot Circumference: 20.5 (22.9) cm / 8.25 (9.1)″ Foot Length: 22 (23.5) cm / 8.75 (9.25)″, adjustable YARN Fingering-weight sock yarn. The bluish-green and white pair was knitted in Aara Mieli Sock Yarn (75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon, 100 g/ 425 m / 465 yds) in colorway Lapponia and Malabrigo Ultimate Sock (100 g / 384 m / 420 yds) in colorway 63 Natural. The black and grey sample pair was knitted in Nurja Merino Sock (75% superwash merino wool, 25% polyamide, 100 g / 420 m / 460 yds) in colorways Onyx and Kalkiitti. YARDAGE MC 250 (335) m / 275 (365) yds CC 110 (125) m / 125 (135) yds Note, these are estimates; please reserve more. NEEDLES 2 mm / US 0 ,80 cm / 32″ circular needles for stockinette. and 2.25 mm / US 1, 80 cm / 32″ circular needles for colorwork. You can also use DPNs. Always use needle sizes that gives you the correct gauge. GAUGE 36 sts x 37.5 rnds = 10 cm / 4″ on 2.25 mm / US 1 needles in colorwork in the round after blocking. 35 sts x 42 rnds = 10 cm / 4″ on 2 mm / US 0 needles in stockinette stitch in the round after blocking. NOTIONS Grafting needle, stitch markers (if needed). NOTES This is a top-down sock, featuring a colorwork pattern on the leg with a French heel and wedge toe.
