Favourite Socks DK

*Favourite Socks DK is the DK-weight version of my ‘Black Cat Favourite Socks’ design, which is the result of many years of knitting socks and honing my preferred techniques along with finding the best fit.* *They are worked toe-up using a short row heel with added shaping to accommodate the instep. They come in 6 adult sizes, with tips on how to modify to fit your foot.* *If you love my original pattern, you’ll love how quick and easy it is to knit up the DK version!* **Sizing**: This pattern comes in 6 adult sizes, to fit a foot circumference of (8.5, 9, 9.25)(9.75, 10, 10.5) inches / (21.5, 23, 23.5)(24.5, 25.5, 26.5) centimetres *Pattern includes a chart for size measurements and recommend ease, as well as notes on how to custumize the fit to suit your exact measurements.* **Needles**: 3.25 mm / US Size 3 needles *Or needle sizes to obtain gauge* **Notions**: Tapestry needle (for finishing) Stitch Markers- removable **Yarn**: Any DK-weight sock yarn can work. For maximum durability, I recommend finding a blend of wool and nylon, but you can also use a 100% wool yarn if it’s a strong wool and/or spun at a tight twist. To be safe, use yarns intended for sock knitting. Find a yarn with approx. 200-220 metres per 100g skein. Since DK-weight sock yarns are less commonly available, you can also use a standard sock-weight yarn (fingering weight) held double to meet gauge. **Some of the yarns I’ve successfully used for this sock pattern**: • Manos Del Uruguay Allegria Grande • Opal 8ply sock yarn • Union Fibre DK Sock • I have also made several pairs using 2 strands of 4ply sock yarn held together **Approximate amounts required**: 150-250 metres / 164-273 yards in total Total metreage listed spans from Size 1 “Shorties” through Size 6 “Full length”, and varies a lot depending on yarn chosen. For most sizes, you can get away with 100g in total, but for the upper sizes and especially full lengths, 150g is a safer bet. Toe-up construction means you can easily adjust the length to suit your yarn!
