He is worked top down and in the round. His clothing and accessories are also knit in the round. **Yarn:** Sample 1 Tea with Toads Shetland Fingering (350m/100g) in the following colours: Cardinal Body: Cardinal Red Beak: Blackest Black and Pumpkin Folke Legs: Birdy Feet Beige Sweater: Brook Blue Satchel: Hazelnut Brown Egg: Natural Cream Hat: Dark Red Sample 2 Jamieson and Smith 2 ply Jumper Weight (fingering, 105m/25g) in the following colours: Cardinal Body: Red 1403 Beak: 77 Black and 73 Bright Orange Legs: Pinky Fawn 3 Sweater: 135 Mid Navy Satchel: FC 68 Brown Mix Egg: 1A Natural White Hat: 9113 Dark Red **Amounts (approximate):** Cardinal: 10 grams total Beak: Short lengths of both black and orange (less than 1 gram) Legs: 5 grams Sweater: 6 grams Satchel: 1 gram Egg: 1 gram Hat: 4 grams **Other Materials:** -2x 4mm black seed beads for bird eyes (or black embroidery thread). -Two lengths of black thread and a sewing needle (for attaching bead eyes). -2.5mm crochet hook for egg satchel strap. -Darning/tapestry needle, waste yarn to put stitches on hold. -Stuffing (ideally wool because it gives the birds a pleasing heft, but can use polyfil, fabric, or yarn scraps). -4x 5mm buttons for the sweater. -A skewer, extra knitting needle, thin chopstick, or similar tool for stuffing small spaces. **IMPORTANT:** These birds are not safe for children under 3 since they have very small knitted parts that are choking hazards.
