Botanical Brew Blanket

About: The Botanical Brew Blanket began with 24 mini skeins of fingering-weight Peruvian Highland wool that I hand-dyed using a process called solar dyeing. Using natural plant materials and the warmth and light of the sun, I created a collection of soft botanical colors. Many of the flowers and plants I gathered for the dyes were especially meaningful to me. The blanket alternates three-row botanical stripes with narrow two-row stripes of a soft neutral. Staggered eyelets travel across the fabric, creating an open, delicate texture while allowing each individual color to stand on its own. The original Botanical Brew Blanket was made with naturally dyed yarn, but naturally dyed yarn is not required. You will need 24 different colors or 24 fingering-weight mini skeins to create the striped design. To achieve a look similar to the original blanket, choose a collection of soft, varied colors inspired by nature. Yarn: Botanical Colors (plant-dyed) • Fingering-weight yarn in 24 different colors (Peruvian Highland wool) • 15 g / 60 yds (55 m) per color • 360 g / 1,440 yds (1,317 m) total • Original mini skeins contained approximately 20 g / 80 yds (73 m) each Contrast Color Purl Soho Linen Quill in color 1030 “Pale Mushroom” • 2 skeins fingering weight, 50% fine Highland wool + 35% alpaca + 15% linen • 100 g / 439 yds (401 m) per skein • 200 g / 878 yds (803 m) total TOTAL YARN REQUIRED: 560 g/ 2,318 yds (2,120 m) total
