Supplies
Yarn and hooks: 100 gr of Alize Angora Gold Batik, and 100 gr of Alize Angora Simli. Instead of this brand, you can use whatever self-striping fingering yarn for the weave and monochromatic yarn for the base. Both yarns in this tutorial are 100 gr with the batik one being with 550 m/602 yds and the plain one being 500 m/547 yds.
We are also going to use 4mm (UK 8/ US G-6) and 2 (2.5) mm (UK 14/ US A-O) hooks.
Also needed: long tapestry needle, regular tapestry needle for weaving ends, and scissors.
Stitches: chain (ch), stitch (st), skip (sk), slip stitch (sl st), double crochet (dc). American terminology used.
Gauge: not important for this project.
Measurements of full scarf: 1.80 cm/ 70.86” in width and 75 cm/29.52” in length at the longest point.
Note: We are going to be making the scarf from the bottom up. I used the whole plain skein to make the netted scarf. However, since this regards lots of work and effort, you can stop making it at the point (the size) that you’ll be satisfied with. The scarf is a net, and we’ll be adding 2 squares per row, using odd numbers, so in the first row there is 1 square, in the second there are 3 squares, 5 in the next, and so on.
