Little donkey

*This donkey is small enough to turn into a keychain or fit into a pocket and won’t take up much space on a desk, but it is great when it comes to making people smile! It is fast to make and requires tiny amounts of yarn - it is the perfect pattern to turn small leftovers into an adorable little creature.* **Size** About 8 cm / 3 1/4” tall to the tip of its ears, if made with DK yarn. **Tools and materials** ~ DK (or worsted weight) yarn in 3 colors ~ 3mm (approx. US size C) hook if using DK yarn; or size that gives you a tight, no-gaps fabric ~ black plastic eyes: 4.5mm for DK yarn (5mm for worsted weight) ~ fiberfill stuffing ~ stitch markers, pair of scissors, pair of tweezers, yarn needle, pins ~ optionally, for eye rings: either felt matching the color of the muzzle; or fabric glue to make the rings with “roving” from the muzzle yarn ~ optionally, if you want to make a back stripe: sewing needle and thread matching either the coat color or the mane color **Difficulty** This pattern is suitable for intermediate level crocheters who are confident with basic stitches and frequently used amigurumi techniques (ch, sl st, sc, hdc, sc2tog, magic ring, invisible decrease). Legs are joined to the body as you crochet, ears and tail are made as part of the head/body and the neck is worked into skipped head stitches, so the only parts that need sewing are the neck to the body, and the mane to the head and neck (plus the back stripe, if you decide to add it). The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology (UK/Aus equivalents provided). It contains many in-progress photos, but also includes a text-only appendix for easy printing, if you prefer working from a printed pattern but want to save ink and paper.
