Meet Marty the Manatee! This plump “sea cow” pretty much has a full-time job munching on seagrass, but he still always finds time to hang out with his friends and family. I know he’d love to take time off from his important “job” and spend time with you too! Materials You Need: -#6 super bulky yarn. I used Parfait Chunky by Premier Yarns in the color “Fog”. You’ll need 50 grams of gray. -A small amount of black worsted-weight yarn for the nostrils. -I (5.5 mm) crochet hook -12 mm black safety eyes -Fiberfill (or your stuffing of choice) -Bent tip tapestry needle -Scissors -Stitch marker -Straight pins Abbreviation Key Abbreviations are in U.S. terms. sc – single crochet st/sts – stitch(es) sl st – slip stitch dec – decrease (join the next 2 stitches together) inc – increase (2 single crochet in the next stitch) R1 – round 1 rep – repeat ** – repeat the group of instructions between the asterisks the number of times indicated. Note: All rounds are worked continuously (that is, vs. joined rounds.) The finished size is approximately 8 in. (20 cm) long from tail to snout.
