Anne Pedersdotter

This sweater was created in memory of Anne Pedersdotter, a victim of the witch hunts in Norway. Inspired by the lusekofte – a traditional Norwegian garment – the design features patterns that once offered protection in everyday life. The distinctive repeating motif forms a binding rune surrounded by hearts: a sign of connection and love, of strength that remains when social protection disappears. The flying witch, knitted onto the garment afterwards, is a reinterpretation of a historical stereotype. What once served to condemn is now reclaimed and worn with pride. Choose from 2 sizes: S/M and L/XL. The photos show size S/M. You work in the round up to the armholes. Then you divide the work in two and continue knitting each part separately. The flying witch and the frame of red hearts and bind runes around the witch are crocheted onto the body before you start on the sleeves. The sleeves are knitted onto the body from top to bottom in the round.
