CITY TIVOLI sweater

FIT AND CONSTRUCTION The sweater is worked top down with evenly spaced increases around the yoke, continuing with a steeper curve down toward the armholes. Increases are also made in the lower part of the body so that it forms an A-line shape. The sleeves are straight from the armholes downward, but the stitch count is reduced before the cuff, creating a slight balloon shape at the bottom. When stitches are cast on for the armholes, the same number is cast on as the width of one chart repeat. This means that each sleeve gets one extra repeat of the chart, and the body gets two additional repeats, one on each side. The sleeves are longer than the body, but the sweater is the same front and back. Both body and sleeves are finished with ribbing. On the sleeves, the same needle size is used for the cuff as for the neck ribbing, but for the ribbing at the bottom of the body, a needle 0.5 mm larger is used to prevent it from being too tight. Please note that only two repeats (2 x chart) are added in width per size. This means that increases alternate between being made in the sleeves or in the body every other size. Sizes XS, M, XL and 3XL have the same fit as the sweater shown in the photos, while sizes 2XS, S, L and 2XL have wider sleeves than the sweater shown. In height, increases are made only every other size. It is easy to add length to both sleeves and body by adding rounds in a diamond row. If you choose to do so, add them in the same diamond row if both body and sleeves need extra length. If you only want to adjust the sleeve length, add rounds in the diamond rows that come after the diamond rows on the body are completed. Carefully check the measurements for your chosen size before you start knitting.
