The secret to making this heavier shawl comfortable to wear lies in the strategic placement of increases. You'll work two columns of paired yarn-over increases that radiate from the center neck cast-on, along with edge increases on every right-side row. This construction adds six stitches per right-side row, creating a curved shape with long, elegant points that drape perfectly around your shoulders. Knitted with large needles and featuring simple lace, this is a fast and satisfying project you can finish in just a few days. The pattern is easily adjustable: you can repeat the lace section as many times as you like to achieve your desired length. The result is a shawl that feels dramatic, modern, and fun. The pattern is fully written and charted. Techniques: garter tab, decreases (k2tog, ssk, and central double decrease), and yarn overs. ................................................................................................................ **SIZE** Adjustable Size of the sample: approximately 22” (56 cm) from center to point and 18” (46 cm) from center to bottom edge. **YARN** Bulky weight yarn, approximate amount: 218 yards (200 meters) Shown in Ístex Álafosslopi (100% Wool - Icelandic, 109 yards / 100 meters, 3.53oz / 100g): 2 balls in colorway 58 (dark grey). **NEEDLES** US 11 (8 mm) circular needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge. **NOTIONS** Stitch markers, tapestry needle, and blocking tools (optional). **GAUGE** 8 sts and 13 rows = 4" (10 cm) in lace pattern, flat on US 11 (8 mm) needles, after blocking. Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and final size of the shawl.
