Simple Kitchen Mat

This is a kitchen mat that's very common in Brazil. I used Barbante nº 8, a widely available yarn in Brazil, but you can use any sturdy cotton yarn suitable for mats. I made it using two colors, but it works just as well in a single color. If you use a lighter weight yarn and make it smaller, it also makes a lovely placemat.
