Brécilien

This is the 1st design in the *Mythplaced* series, based on the work of the amazing [Herbert Niebling][1]. Brécilien is a textured lace & mesh semicircular shawl, with botanical and architectural elements evocative of other eras & places, thanks to the genius of the wonderful Herbert Niebling. The design begins reminiscent of a woodland daisy, oak leaves then flow into gothic arches, which shift dreamily into a swooping edge. The shawl is named for the forest of Arthurian legend, also known as Brocéliande, and translates elements from Niebling’s lace into a wearable format. The pattern is one main size, though extra wedges can be added to make more than a half circle, and the edging can be repeated to soak up a little extra yardage. The depth could also be increased by using a heavier yarn. The design is **charts only** the initial few rows, and suits lace to sport weight yarn, of solid or gradient colouring. The Mythplaced series is some seriously decadent, escapist knitting for those in need of respite from these strange times. An opportunity to lose yourself in lace and daydreams of other times & places for a little while to rest, before reentering the world again for another day… My project page can be found [here][2].
