Linen Placemats

A marriage of linen yarn and linen stitch is a divine union! These placemats will lend an elegant look to your table, and the sturdy linen can withstand years of use. They can even be washed in your washing machine! (Machine drying isn’t recommended for aesthetic reasons, but it’s also perfectly possible.) The placemats are made with [Quince & Co Kestrel] (yarn), so you can choose from a range of beautiful, subtle colors to match your decor. Linen stitch is just as beautiful on the wrong side as the right side, so carefully weaving in ends will give you two-sided placemats, extending time between washes. The placemats are knit using two strands of Kestrel held double. Linen stitch is used throughout (excepting the selvedges), and the chosen gauge will produce a lovely yet sturdy fabric suitable for the table. Each placemat is knit in a rectangle, from one long side to the other, with selvedges along either short side. **Additional Gauge Information** Be sure to measure gauge after your swatch has been washed exactly as you plan to care for your placemats. I recommend machine washing, laying flat to dry, and following with a warm iron to set the shape; if you plan on machine drying as well, please treat your swatch the same before you measure gauge.
