Most placemats and coasters, at least in the UK, are sold in sets of four or six. But this set has seven of each, because there are traditionally seven colours in a rainbow. That means there’s a spare mat and coaster in case you have an unexpected guest at your dinner table. The pattern includes instructions for knitting both flat and in the round. Approximate measurements: Placemat 20.5cm/8in diameter Coaster 10cm/4in diameter Materials needed: 40g/1.4oz of Lily Sugar’n Cream Solids yarn in each of the seven colours of the rainbow (Each placemat uses approximately 32g/1.1oz of yarn, and each coaster approximately 8g/0.3oz) 1 pair 4.25mm straight needles or 1 set of 4.25mm double-pointed needles
