Prayer Shawl V-Stitch

Free Crochet pattern. Prayer shawls provide comfort, warmth and spiritual healing to the recipient. They are always given to someone who is going through or has gone through some difficult times, be it physical, emotional or spiritual. They are *not gender specific* as you can also crochet a beautiful comfort lapghan or throw for a man. ***This is also a great beginner's project or prayer shawl ministry project.*** ***This has been one of my most popular shawl designs because of its simplicity.*** Experiment with various hook sizes (5.5mm, 6.5mm, 8.0mm) to get your desired look in the fabric. This pattern can easily be modified with different weights of yarn (though I would recommend medium "worsted weight" or bulky weight). ***Please remember to use the recommended hook size for the yarn of your choice.*** I like this pattern because it uses the V-stitch (dc + dc) and it just keeps on repeating itself. No complicated rows to memorize ... after you set up your foundation chain and first row ... it just repeats itself. You can also use this same stitch to make a warm & bulky scarf. *Note: I do not use the chain between the 2 dc's (dc +ch+ dc) because I don't like the fabric to be too lacy, however, nothing is set in stone and you can modify it as you wish and to your preference.* Skill level: beginner to intermediate Stitches used: Double crochet, chain *Optional: add fringes to the ends or a favorite border *
