Tales of the Garden shawl

Inspired by the wonderful paintings, writings and spirit of Beatrix Potter, this shawl is a mix of delicate classic English stitches, vintage style, and a touch of whimsy. Large enough to wrap you in warmth on a cool evening, light enough for spring and summer, and cozy and fun enough to use as a scarf with your fall jacket or even winter coat, I hope this shawl will make you smile year round and bring you joy! Originally designed in collaboration with Tippy Tree Yarn for her 5th ICON Mystery Knitalong, June 2023: Beatrix Potter. Note that though the kit is no longer available, Tippy Tree Yarns is launching a Potter inspired collection of colourways on July 1st 2023, which include some of the colours used for the MKAL. Here is the link to the website: https://tippytreeyarns.com/collections/potter-storytime-collection Yarn and notions: - 4 x 50g skeins of fingering weight yarn, at least 225 yards each (206 metres each) referred to in the pattern simply as colours 1 through 4. - Sample knit in Tippy Tree Yarns’ Tippy Sock base, using the Beatrix Potter shawl kit created for the MKAL in June 2023. - The project may also be knit using 2 full skeins of complimentary colours (using one colour for colour 1 and 3 instructions, and the other for the colour 2 and 4 instructions). It could also be knit in one colour, using 2 skeins. - Total yardage: 900 yards - 2 stitch markers, plus a progress marker to identify the front of your work - scissors and tapestry needle for weaving in ends Needles: 3.75mm (US size 5) circular needles (80cm or 32” cable suggested) Gauge (blocked): 20 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette and garter (24 sts unblocked)
