Stony Stream Shawl

*Enjoy relaxing rows of cabled slip stitches and stony textures throughout this triangular shawl. Begin at the corner as you stripe two colors of fingering weight yarn. Increases at the edge expand the fabric toward the wide border. You can easily customize the size by knitting fewer pattern repeats for a smaller shawl or knit more pattern repeats for a large size. This textural slip stitch pattern echoes the meandering waves and ripples of a stream for a relaxing and repetitive process. Choose two skeins of a main color combined with two balls of a selfstriping yarn like Schoppel Wolle’s Zauberball Crazy.* **Finished Measurements** 84″ / 213cm wingspan length. 41″ / 104cm wide along triangle point. Measurements taken after blocking. The size is customizable. **Yarn** Fingering weight **Yardage** MC - 800yds / 732m CC - 600yds / 549m **Shown in** Qing Fibre Dashing Sassy (100% Superwash Ultrafine South African Merino; 437yds / 400m per 100g skein) MC - Malachite Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy (75% Wool, 25% Nylon; 459yds / 420m per 100g ball) CC - Camouflage I recommend using the self-striping yarn as the CC (contrast color). A variegated or colorful speckled yarn would also make a great CC. Think about the MC (main color) as the framing color. The MC frames and highlights the CC. **Needles** US 5 / 3.75mm circular in 40″ / 100cm length of size needed to obtain gauge **Notions** Cable needle, tapestry needle **Gauge** 22 sts & 42 rows = 4″ / 10cm in pattern after blocking Gauge is not crucial for this project, so as long as you achieve a fabric that feels good to you.
