Note: This pattern was originally written for the Symphony Yarn kit, containing 15 mini-skeins of Tough Love Sock. Knitters may choose to use multiple colours, changing colours where indicated in the pattern, or 780 yds of fingering-weight yarn two or three colours. Please see pattern notes for how the colours are labeled. NEEDLES & NOTIONS Size 6 US / 4 mm circular needle, 24" / 60 cm long Adjust needle size if necessary, to obtain the correct gauge. Yarn needle GAUGE 22 sts and 32 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Garter stitch, after blocking aggressively and unpinning. 23 sts and 30 rows = 4" / 10 cm in Stripe stitch, after blocking aggressively and unpinning. PATTERN NOTES This shawl is worked sideways, beginning with a few stitches and increasing gradually along one edge. The 2025 colours are labelled in the pattern as: A - Fern B - Basil, C - Lime, D - Cilantro, E - Clover, F - Beach House, G -Sea Spray, H - Deep Cove, I - Marine, J - Azurite, K - Lupine, L - Aubergine, M - Dark Orchid, N - Dahlia, and O - Amber Ale. The colours in the original kit are labelled in the pattern as: A - Peridot, B - Kryptonite, C - Olivine, D - Serpentine, E - Malachite, F - Peacock, G - Azurite, H - Velvet Elvis, I - Aubergine, J - Jewel, K - Lollipop, L - Rubine, M - Red Rock, N - Garnet, and O - Amber. You can work more or fewer rows within each section without affecting the pattern's look (just the stitch counts). Ensure you have enough to work a full 3-st increase over 4 rows.
