**Floatini** A simple and elegant design that comes from the concept of negative spaces created by the use of mohair and short row sections. This element captures the air and light between texture and produces a soft flowing design that lets light through. Relaxing garter sections help provide a simple backdrop for highlighting and creating drama. **Shape:** The construction of the shawl starts from the tip, increases at the beginning of each right-side row and has a built-in I-cord, resulting in an asymmetrical triangle. **This is a written pattern** **Please note-** Gauge is a funny thing! A few people have run short of the main color yarn if their gauge is off or they aren’t using the specified yarn. *This pattern uses all **400 yards** of the main color, so please buy extra if you’re concerned about gauge. **Shawl will need an aggresive blocking to achieve size.** **Yarn:** **Main Color** (MC): [*Emma’s Yarn Super Silky*][1] (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk, 400 yards/100 grams) Jackie O - 400 yards *>**I used this yarn as my main color for the silk combination which creates a beautiful drape and amazing shine.*** **Coordinating Color** (CC): *[Emma’s Yarn Marvelous Mohair][2]* (72% Kid mohair/ 28% Silk, 459 yards/50 grams) Himalayan Salt - 230 yards **Beautiful kits are available online at [Four Purls][3]** I suggest a fingering weight yarn in a semi-solid colorway for the main color and a Mohair/Silk for the coordinating color- this yarn will provide a negative space. **Yarn Substitution Notes:** This pattern was written with a mohair laceweight yarn as CC. If you have a mohair sensitivity you can use a wool or alpaca lace weight yarn, this will give you a similar lightweight drape to the sample shawl shown. You could also knit it using 2 regular fingering weight yarns. Keep in mind this will produce a shawl that is still beautiful but less lightweight and flowy than the shawl shown in the photos. **Needles:** US 4/3.5mm 32” circular needles and size 7/4.5mm for bind off **Notions:** Stitch Marker, T-pins and blocking wires for blocking **Gauge:** 20 stitches = 4 inches in Garter Stitch after blocking. *A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.* **Finished size:** asymmetrical triangle - 60”x 45”x 43” **Techniques:** knit, purl, kfb, german short rows, slip-stitch, Icelandic bind off (super easy & fun) **Thank you** to my [amazing test knitters][4] who not only killed it with their color combinations but also kept this a secret for sooo long!!!! *These special ladies were so in love with this one that a few even immediately cast on a second version!!!* > Come join my **[Ravelry group][5]** if you like to knit in good company ♡ <big>***Looking for a rectangle shape version???
