Christmas Present Mosaic Coaster

Wrap up some festive cheer with this little overlay mosaic Christmas present coaster! The Christmas Present Coaster was inspired by the presents on my [Dashing Dachshunds Christmas blanket][1]. Not everyone fancies a blanket-sized project at this time of year, so this is a smaller, quicker way to enjoy the same festive motif. Worked in overlay mosaic crochet, the design is built around a central Christmas present with a bow. It’s a lovely project if you’re new to overlay mosaic and want to try the technique on something small, and it’s also a good way to use up scraps. **Two ways to make it:** Coaster: work the central present motif as it is, for a neat, cosy coaster Mug rug or hot pad: add the envelope border for a larger finished piece ** Video tutorial:** This design was created for the [Christmas Crochet Convention][2] (afflink) running October 23rd-25th 2026, hosted by Makalani at Nordic Yarn Art, where the step-by-step video tutorial is free to watch and crochet along with on Day 2 (Saturday 24th October 2026). The convention is free to join, with 21 Christmas projects from 15 designers. **The pattern includes:** - Written and graphical instructions - Large print option **Finished size** (without envelope border) apx. 13 by 14cm (5.25 by 5.5 inches). **Yardage** (based on the purple sample, with no envelope border): - Stylecraft Highland Heathers (thistle) apx. 16m/18yds - Stylecraft Special DK (white) apx. 18m/19 yds You may sell the items that you crochet by following this pattern on a small scale provided that you credit Elimee Designs as the pattern designer.
