This shawl is a modern, minimalist design that balances simplicity with thoughtful craftsmanship. Worked in an elegant symmetric shape. From the top down, it drapes beautifully around the shoulders while remaining light and effortless to wear. A delicate crochet trim completes the shawl, adding a subtle touch of elegance and definition. The result is a deceptively simple knit, thoughtfully packed with refined techniques and quiet, timeless beauty. Key Information Sizes: Collar 1 (Shawl 2) Length from Point to Point:(86) 112 cm (33.5) 44 inches Width at widest Point: (27) 36 cm (10.5) 14 inches Gauge: 22 sts x 26 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch on 4 mm needles. Stitch markers, measuring tape, stitch holder or spare small circular needles/scrap yarn to hold sts on. Notes on Sizing The pattern includes two sizes: a small collar or a shawl, carefully proportioned to highlight the design and its details. It is an easily adaptable pattern: by omitting the slit, you can customise the size to suit your preference simply by continuing to knit until the shawl reaches your desired dimensions. This flexible approach allows you to create a larger version without altering the overall construction. Notes on Construction The Sami Collar/ Shawl is worked from the top down, with increases on both the right and wrong sides. The cast-on stitches form the long, straight edge of the garment. Once the collar/shawl has reached the length specified in the pattern, a small opening is created, allowing one end of the collar to be threaded through the other for secure fastening around the neck without the need for a knot. This opening may be omitted if you would like. After the final length is reached, a no-roll bind-off is worked. Both items are finished with a delicate crochet lace trim, applied using a crochet hook and a contrasting yarn.
