Hinata Maxi Dress

**ABOUT** **Hinata** (日向) is the Japanese word for "**a sunny place**." I chose this name because I wanted the dress to feel like a warm, sunny summer morning—simple, comfortable and perfect for the long summer days. The dress is worked from the top down. The front and back are started separately and worked flat back and forth, then joined to continue the body in the round. The finishing details include a folded hem, i-cords, and crocheted chain stitch worked through the knitted fabric at selected points for a polished, minimal finish. For Sizes XL–4XL, the front includes additional princess-line increases for the cups to provide more rapid shaping for a fuller bust. Because the dress is worked from the top down, both the dress length and strap length are easy to customize.
