Reticello Inspired

Pattern with diagonal stitches Reticello Inspired is a crochet design inspired by the delicate geometric beauty of Reticello lace. The pattern includes two different square motifs, each available in both Mosaic Crochet and Interlocking Crochet, with separate instructions for each technique. Each motif measures 73 sts × 73 rows in Mosaic Crochet and 36 × 36 windows in Interlocking Crochet. Both solid and non-solid versions are included. The motifs can be worked from the center outward or from the bottom up. The bottom-up instructions allow you to work several motifs side by side as one continuous piece, making a blanket, scarf, or other project of any desired width. You can also make a blanket continuously in the round from the center. Start with Motif 1 and add motifs in a checkerboard arrangement. You can stop at 3 × 3 motifs or continue to 5 × 5 motifs, with a border suitable for either size. The pattern includes: 1. Mosaic Crochet – motifs worked from the center or bottom up, with an envelope border worked in the round 2. Mosaic Crochet – blanket worked in the round from the center 3. Interlocking Crochet – motifs worked from the center or bottom up, with a border worked in the round 4. Interlocking Crochet – blanket worked in the round from the center The solid Mosaic Crochet version uses the familiar overlay mosaic technique with diagonal stitches. The non-solid Interlocking Crochet version uses the traditional interlocking filet technique. The solid Interlocking version is the most challenging of the four. The samples shown in the photos were made using Tulip (Color C1) by YarnArt together with a cotton yarn of a suitable weight, using a 1.3 mm (US 8 steel) crochet hook. With this combination, the motifs measure approximately 20 × 20 cm (8 × 8 in). A single motif can be used for many smaller projects, such as a small zippered pouch or cosmetic bag. I think these little pouches would also make lovely handmade gifts. The pattern is rated Advanced. The pattern includes detailed written instructions, step-by-step photos, charts, and links to video tutorials for the stitch techniques. Unlike some of my earlier patterns, this design does not include video tutorials for the first few rounds.
