Swooping Bat Inset Mosaic Tile

A black bat caught mid-swoop — wings spread wide, ears up — on a bright orange ground, the most Halloween colour pairing in the set. Inset mosaic worked flat: one colour per row, the other carried up the side, so only four ends to weave in. The chart and every row are written out at the link. Worked flat in two colors of sport-weight cotton (I used 4-ply milk cotton), one color per row — the dropped double crochets make the picture. Finishes as a 4.3″ × 7.1″ (11 × 18 cm) tile for pillows, blankets, garlands, or a wall hanging. I designed the tile and crocheted the sample in the photos myself.
