Ghost Inset Mosaic Tile

A pale gold ghost with tall oval eyes and a scalloped, trailing hem, floating on a deep indigo ground. The hem is my favourite part — it's what makes it read as drifting instead of standing still. Inset mosaic: one colour in your hand per row, and the chart shows exactly where each stitch goes. The chart and every row are written out at the link. Worked flat in two colors of sport-weight cotton (I used 4-ply milk cotton), one color per row — the dropped double crochets make the picture. Finishes as a 4.3″ × 7.1″ (11 × 18 cm) tile for pillows, blankets, garlands, or a wall hanging. I designed the tile and crocheted the sample in the photos myself.
