Wavebreaker Sweater

The Wavebreaker Sweater is an ode to heritage and to the end of a season that is filled with new opportunities. Choose 1 or 5 or as many colours you would like from the different to add your personal flare into the sweater! The Wavebreaker sweater is a classic dropped shoulder sweater with 3 different colourwork charts. It has a positive ease of 20-25 cm [8-10”] The pattern starts by working the back flat. The fronts are picked up from the cast-on edge of the back piece, later on joined with the back and worked till the ribbing is reached. The ribbing is worked in the round. The plackets are worked once the body is finished and an icord is worked around the neck and part of the plackets. From the icord, stitches are picked up to work the folded collar. Lastly stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked to the desired length, finishing with ribbing. The pattern uses charts that are read from right to left on the RS or in the round and from left to right on the WS. Gauge 18 sts x 25 rounds = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4”] in stockinette in the round after blocking using the body needles. Always use needles that get you the required gauge. Needles 5 mm [US 8] for the body of the sweater and the sleeves 80-100 cm [32-40”] circular needles. 4 mm [US 6] for the ribbings 80 cm [32”] circular needles for the magic loop method for the sleeves or shorter. The garment has a positive ease of 20-25 cm [8-10”]at the bust. Tip: If you’re between two sizes, I recommend choosing the bigger size for an oversized look.
