Strandir are elegant fingerless mitts with long cuffs, inspired by the sea and the slow movement of water along the shore. The textured pattern echoes the delicate marks left behind in the sand as the tide comes and goes. SIZES 1 (2) **Recommended ease:** 0–1" / 0–2.5 cm of negative ease. INISHED MEASUREMENTS **Hand Circumference:** 7 (7.75)" / 18 (19.5) cm. **Length (excl. Cuff):** 5.5" / 14 cm. **Cuff Length:** 11.75" / 30 cm. MATERIALS **Yarn**: 1 skein of Laine x Novita 4ply by Novita (70% Falkland wool, 15% Bluefaced Leicester, 15% Bluefaced Kerry Hill, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), in the colourway Tender Fog. Or approx. 265 (275) yds / 240 (250) m of fingering-weight yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example E+2 by Einrúm or Nobilis 1 by Garna. **Needles**: US 2.5 / 3 mm and US 1.5 / 2.5 mm DPNs or preferred method of working small circumferences. **Notions**: Stitch marker, smooth waste yarn. GAUGE 30 sts x 44 rnds to 4" / 10 cm on US 2.5 / 3 mm needles in St St and in the Textured St patt, after blocking. CONSTRUCTION These fingerless mitts are worked in the round from the cuff upwards. The extra-long cuff features a simple 2-round lace pattern that creates a softly wavy effect and can be easily adjusted in length, while the hand combines a distinctive slipped-stitch pattern on the back with smooth St St on the palm for comfort and practicality, and is finished with 1 x 1 Rib. The thumb is worked separately in St St and finished with 1 x 1 Rib. The mitts are worked the same for left and right, except for the thumb placement.
