Berry Wave Mittens

Inspired by tiny berry-like textured bumps and a warm, dark orange hue, these mittens combine subtle texture with delicate picot edges for a playful yet practical accessory. The easy to memorise stitch pattern makes them an enjoyable knit, and the book also includes a matching shawl design. SIZES 1 (2, 3) **Recommended ease:** 0–0.5" / 0–1 cm of positive ease. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS **Hand Circumference:** 6.5 (7.5, 8.5)" / 16.5 (18.75, 21) cm **Total Length:** 9.5 (10, 11.75)" / 24 (25.5, 29.5) cm MATERIALS **Yarn:** Le Petit Lambswool by Biches & Bûches (100% lambswool, 270 yds / 248 m – 50 g), 2 balls in the colourway Dark Orange Grey. Or approx. 390 (450, 540) yds / 360 (410, 490) m of fingering-weight yarn. 2 strands of yarn are held together throughout the pattern. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Highland by Isager, Bio Shetland GOTS by BC Garn, or Cascade 220 Fingering by Cascade Yarns. Each of these yarns should be worked with 2 strands held together. **Needles:** US 6 / 4 mm 32" / 80 cm circular needles for Magic Loop method, US 4 / 3.5 mm 32" / 80 cm circular needles for Magic Loop method for the cuff. **Notions:** 4 stitch markers, stitch holders or waste yarn. GAUGE 18 sts x 32 rnds to 4" / 10 cm on US 6 / 4 mm needles in Stitch Patt and St St, after blocking. CONSTRUCTION The mittens are worked seamlessly in the round from the cuff upwards with a textured stitch pattern on the back of the hand and a stockinette palm. The thumb gusset is shaped with increases, then the thumb stitches are placed on hold while the hand is worked to fingertips. The thumb is then completed in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up along the lower edge to create a folded picot hem, which is sewn to the inside of the mitten.
