Countdown to Christmas, Nativity

This pattern is for a decoration which can either be used as a calendar throughout December, or to countdown the days to Christmas. This version includes a nativity scene, although I have 2 other festive designs available. Add all 3 to your cart to receive an automatic bundle discount! This pattern is written in English using American crochet terms and contains photos to help you every step of the way. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication. **You will need:** Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used King Cole Cherished DK (equivalent to weight 3 / light worsted weight) and my finished project measures approximately 19cm tall x 12.5cm wide x 6.25cm deep. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn throughout your project. **For the nativity figures (pages 4 - 7), you will need the following colours:** * Skin tone - I used pink (approx. 7m). * Blanket & Joseph’s head covering colour - I used white (approx. 10m). * Mary’s dress colour - I used lilac (approx. 6m). * Mary’s head covering colour - I used purple (approx. 4.5m). * Joseph’s robe colour - I used light grey (approx. 5m). * Joseph’s beard & Mary’s hair colour - I used dark brown (approx. 2.75m). **For the calendar section (pages 8 - 11), you will need the following colours:** * 2 cubes colour - I used white (approx. 58m). * Outer box colour - I used dark grey (approx. 97m). **For the stable section (pages 12 - 15), you will need the following colours:** * Star colour - I used yellow (approx. 2m) * Wall colour - I used light brown (approx. 60m). * Roof colour - I used dark brown (approx. 33m). Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice. **You will also need:** * A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook. * A small amount of toy stuffing for the nativity figures. * Small amounts of black and gold finer yarn or thread for adding the eyes and Mary’s belt. * The numbers can be embroidered onto the cubes or you may wish to use some self-adhesive felt numbers - the ones I used were 2.5cm tall (advent numbers sourced from Hobbycraft). You will need the numbers 012345 on the 1st cube & 012678 on the 2nd cube. * ‘7 count’ plastic canvas. I used 1 sheet that was 26cm x 33cm (that’s 10.25 x 13.5 inches). A higher count (that’s the number of holes per inch) will mean the plastic is more bendy so stick to 7 count if possible. I source my plastic canvas (sturdy & good quality) from wool warehouse. * Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle and some scissors. **You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
