Riverstone Headband

This rustic crochet headband pattern for women, kids, and toddlers makes the perfect transition piece from summer to fall! It uses the Bead Stitch to create a river rock-inspired texture to keep your ears warm, and is finished off with a richly layered flower with bow accent. ***This crochet pattern is available for FREE on my website, (visit pattern website link above), or you can download it here on Ravelry as a print-optimized, ad-free PDF for your convenience.*** **Difficulty:** Intermediate **Materials Needed:** 3.5mm hook, or hook needed to obtain gauge 3mm hook (for crab stitch edging) 100 (125, 150) Yards #3 Light Weight Loops and Threads “Luxe Merino” Wool Blend yarn in ”Avocado”, ”White” or color of your choice. -#3 Bernat Softee Baby yarn will also work if you need a wool-free option. -Need a breathable yarn for warmer climates? Try #3 Light Weight Yarn Bee Bamboo-Tiful, in ”Basil”, ”Cognac”, or ”Linen”. (Optional) Small wooden beads with large hole for tie ends. 1.5mm steel hook for threading the beads onto the tie. Scissors Yarn needle Measuring Tape Stitch markers **Stitches Used:** ch = chain sl st = slip stitch sc = single crochet hdc = half double crochet dc = double crochet tr = treble crochet rsc = reverse single crochet (crab stitch) **Additional Terms:** *Bead Stitch:* dc in designated stitch, insert hook around post of dc stitch just worked, YO, pull up a loop 3 times around same st, YO and pull through all remaining loops. This stitch consists of both a dc and a puff stitch. The stitch totals at the end of the round reflect these 2 pieces separately to make counting easier. *Picot Single Crochet (psc) (also known as the Granule Stitch):* Insert hook, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, draw through 1 loop] 3 times to make a ch-3, then yo, and draw through both loops on the hook. Pull your ch-3 sp towards the front of your work instead of pushing it toward the back. *Back bar of sc:* look at the back of the stitch and locate the short bar that runs horizontal. Work all designated stitches for the round into this bar. This is a different location than the back loop! *BLO* = back loop only. st/sts = stitch/stitches sp/sps = space/spaces prev = previous sk = skip **Gauge:** 18 sc in 4” **Measurements:** *(These are approximate)* Toddler: 9” wide by 3” tall. Child: 10” wide by 3 ½” tall. Adult: 11” wide by 4 ¼” tall. **Additional Notes:** -If making this for a toddler you are welcome to leave the beads off the end of the ties on the flower. Remember, this headband is not a toy.
