Mori kimono jacket

This kimono jacket was inspired by the beautiful forests (Mori in Japanese) of Japan and the sense of magic, tranquillity, and connection to nature that can be found within them. I wanted to honour these remarkable landscapes by creating a garment dedicated to the quiet beauty and peaceful atmosphere they evoke. Made using Japanese merino yarn that I bought in Tokyo, the jacket is intended to carry a small piece of that inspiration within every stitch. The flowing kimono-inspired shape and the texture of the knitted fabric come together to create a design that feels both comforting and timeless. More than simply reflecting the appearance of the forest, this design is an attempt to capture a feeling: the peaceful stillness of being surrounded by trees, the softness of the light filtering through the leaves, and the sense of wonder that nature can inspire.
