Marissa's Magnum Opus Socks

This is my personal recipe for perfect-fit socks, developed over years of trial and error. These socks work best for those whose feet are narrower than their ankle, or those who are prone to swelling in the ankles. You will use 4 additional stitches for the heel/ankle and another 4 additional stitches at the cuff. The recommended yarn is what I used to make the socks shown in the photo. I used the colorway Mid-Century Stripes, but you can use any weight 1 sock yarn for this pattern. I like doing a contrast for the toe, heel, and cuff using Patons Kroy Sock in the color Muslin (white). The rest of the sock uses approximately 50g of yarn, so I am typically able to get one pair out of a 50g skein and two pairs out of a 100g skein. If you are using Kroy Sock yarn for the body of the sock I recommend using the same number of stitches but doing fewer rows for the length as it is a heavier fingering weight than most other yarns. This is denoted in the pattern PDF. Reference Measurements These socks were crafted to fit my feet. Here are the measurements that were used: Foot length: 10 inches Ball of foot (circumference): 8 inches Arch (circumference): 8.5 inches Heel diagonal (circumference): 11.25 inches Ankle (circumference, around narrowest part): 9 inches Cuff (circumference, ~1 inch above narrowest part of ankle): 9.5 inches
