My Poetry Purse

My Poetry Purse is large enough to carry a book of poetry and a phone and sweet enough to give as an inspiring gift to an aspiring poet. It features a basketweave seed stitch pattern knit in a bulky yarn designed by Debbie Bliss and inspired by her wisdom to ‘showcase a yarn’ and ‘create a fabric as you go along.’ The pattern offers “creative opportunities” to add complementary ribbon and a lining with a pocket. The purse is constructed in a novel way with a knitted rectangular base and two knit handles. Add a poetry book to suit your fancy! Row-by-row instructions are given along with a schematic of the rectangular base. Cashmerino super chunky yarn is now discontinued. However, online markets may have availability. Alternatively, knit with 2 strands of a lighter weight yarn in the Debbie Bliss cashmerino line. Additional yardage will be needed. Adjust needle size accordingly. Finished dimensions may vary.
