Lifesavers Worsted

Recently I was hit with the desire, nay, the NEED to knit myself a second Lifesavers Cardigan, this time in worsted weight yarn. Same v-neck style, similar funky striped palette but with a slouchier, cozier fit. This is the Grampa cardigan of my dreams! **Sizes** 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48) [52, 56, 60, 64, 68]” / 71 (81, 91.5, 101.5, 112, 122) [132, 142, 152.5, 162.5, 173] cm at chest. Sample is shown with about 10“ / 25 cm of positive ease. The sizes are the actual finished measurement of the garment. Select a size that is 6”- 12” / 15-30 cm larger than your actual chest measurement to achieve the recommended ease. The sleeves are wide and slouchy and the fit is intended to be relaxed. **Gauge** 20 stitches and 26 rows = 4" square in stockinette stitch on larger needle, knit in the round, measured after blocking. **Recommended Needles** US #3 / 3.25 mm 32” / 80cm circular needle and 1 dpn for button band. US #6 / 4 mm 24 - 32” / 60-80cm circular needles hem ribbing and your preferred needle for small circumfer-ence knitting in the round for cuff ribbing. US #8 / 5 mm 24 - 32” / 60-80cm circular needles for yoke and body and your preferred needle for small circumference knitting in the round for sleeves. Or size needed to obtain gauge. **Yarn** Worsted Weight yarn (113 g = 205 yds). or 2 strands of Fingering held together throughout. Sample Knit in TFA PureWash Worsted in “Dark Stormy” and TFA Tweed Sock in Fall Rainbow Mini Skein set held double for the stripes. **Total yardage:** 725 (850, 950, 1060, 1160, 1280) [1400, 1550, 1675, 1800, 1950] yds / 663 (777, 869, 969, 1061, 1170) [1280, 1417, 1532, 1646, 1783] m. **MC (80%):** 580 (680, 760, 848, 928, 1024) [1120, 1240, 1340, 1440, 1560] / 530 (622, 695, 775, 849, 936) [1024, 1134, 1225, 1317, 1426] m. **CC’s (20%):** 145 (170, 190, 212, 232, 256) [280, 310, 335, 360, 390] yds / 133 (155, 174, 194, 212, 234) [256, 282, 306, 329, 357] m. **Additional Tools and Materials** Tapestry needle, 4 stitch markers plus 4 removable stitch markers for button placement, four 1” / 2.5 cm buttons, waste yarn or stitch holder.
