**Size guide**
Fruit Cardigan Junior should be worked with approx. 10–16 cm of positive ease. The table below gives age groups based on average chest measurements, but all children are different, and it is therefore recommended that you choose the size by chest measurement rather than by age. Measure the child’s chest under the arms at the widest point, usually around the tummy. If you are in doubt, or if the child’s chest measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger size.
Example: If the child (regardless of age) has a chest measurement of 56 cm [22″], choose size 3, which has a chest circumference of 69 cm [27¼”].
**Gauge**
20 stitches x 28 rows in stranded colourwork following chart D (marked section only) on 4 mm needles after washing = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4″]
**Suggested needles**
Circular needles 3.5 mm [US 4] (40 cm [16″]) and 4 mm [US 6] (40, 60 and 80 cm [16, 24 and 32″])
Double-pointed needles 3.5 mm [US 4] and 4 mm [US 6] for the sleeves (unless working Magic Loop)
**Materials**

**Colors**
Color A is the leaf pattern at the top of the yoke, color B is the background colour and color C is the “lice”/speckled stitches.
For the strawberry version on the pictures following colors of Merino is use:
Color A: 30, color B: 13, color C: 10
For the blueberry version on the pictures following colors of Merino is use:
Color A: 30, color B: 24, color C: 30
**Techniques used in the pattern**
Cast on stitches, knit, purl, increases (M1R and M1L), German Short Rows, stranded colorwork (from both RS and WS), place stitches on hold, cast on stitches using backwards loop method, yarn over, picking up stitches, decreases (knit 2 together), double knitting, Italian bind-off.
