> What better way to ignite the sock inspiration than knitting some fun little sheep! Knit in a thicker weight yarn these are the coziest socks of the cooling season. Shepherd socks have a ribbed cuff and sheep themed colourwork on both ankle and foot. The socks are knit cuff-down and feature a heelflap and gusset. The yarn used in the pattern is a 100 % wool yarn spun to be durable on socks as well. Note, that due to the yarn the gauge is purposefully tight, so be sure to choose a small enough needle. The pattern is written for magic loop, but can be worked with dpns as well. **Note**, that due to the colourwork pattern on the foot these may not be the best project for someone with small feet, or may require modifications to make the socks short enough. For example substituting the heelflap and gusset for a short row heel would give you more wiggle room. **Size:** 1-2-3, 52-56-60 sts. *Finished circumference: A, leg = 8-8.25-9” / 20-21,5-23 cm B, foot = 7.25-8-8.25” / 18,5-20-21,5 cm* Choose the size closest to the actual measurements of your feet. **Yarn:** Jalovilla (S)eko pässi (70 % rygja, 15 % texel, 15 % finnsheep, 230 m / 100 g) or other sport to DK weight sock yarn. Shown in colourway Laku (MC) and an undyed white (CC). 1 skein of MC, half a skein of CC. The required yardage depends on the size chosen and the length of the leg and foot. **Needle:** 2,75 mm (US 2) and 3,25 mm (US 3) - 32” / 80 cm circular needle for magic loop (or dpns if you prefer). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge for each section. **Gauge:** 14 sts x 21 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in stockinette worked in the round on the smaller needle / 14 sts x 18 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in colourwork worked in the round on the smaller needle / 13 sts x 18 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in colourwork worked in the round on the bigger needle (after blocking). **Others:** stitch markers, tapestry needle.
