The Moquette Dickie is one of six patterns in issue six of John Arbon Textiles’ in house magazine, The Annual. [There are kits available for this pattern.][1] Inspired by Enid Marx, one of the pioneering women commissioned by London Transport to design moquette seating fabric for the Underground trains, this piece beautifully blends comfort with a rich history. Knitted in Devon Naturals Aran, Appledore Aran or Harvest Hues Worsted with a comforting polo neck, the slipover can also be knit with a cosy crew neck and features i-cord side loops. Worked from the bottom upwards, the raised purl bumps and slipped stitch colourwork pattern give this garment a soft, plush texture, reminiscent of the Underground's sturdy moquette fabrics. **Yarn** Worsted MC: 100 (110, 130)g (includes polo neck) CC: 30 (45, 60)g [Harvest Hues][2] (Worsted; 200m / 219yd per 100g) Aran MC: 125 (180, 240)g (includes polo neck) CC: 35 (55, 70)g [Appledore][3] (Aran; 167m / 183yd per 100g) [Devon Naturals][4] (Aran; 176m / 192yd per 100g) Sample shown is size 1 in Gladys (MC) and Reggie (CC) Sample shown is size 2 in Reggie (MC) and Gladys (CC) **Sizes** 1 (2, 3) **Finished Measurements** a - Chest width: 25 (29.5, 34.5)cm / 9.75 (11.5, 13.5)” b - Neck width: 15 (17, 19.5)cm / 6 (6.75, 7.75)” c - Body length from top of shoulder through hem: 23 (27.5, 30.5)cm / 9 (10.75, 12)” All measurements include body trim and exclude neckband. When working the slip-stitch pattern, spread out your stitches as you work so that the tension of the fabric remains even. When working short rows, turn as directed without wrapping stitches. Slip all stitches purlwise unless otherwise instructed. Carry unused colour up side edge. For both versions, the chart for working the body includes a selvedge stitch at either side; trim for the sides will be completed during finishing. For the slipover, body length can be adjusted between hem and underarm and between underarm and shoulder. Length adjustments will affect yarn usage. The slipover’s neckline can be finished with a crew neck or polo neck; the dickie features a polo neck. **The Annual (issue six)** [This pattern is currently only available in print or digital.
