Blusa Bordada

This top was inspired by Mexico's beautiful embroidered blouses which can be found all over the country. Specifically, my tank was inspired by Otomi blouses, which is from an indigenous community that lives in central Mexico and are famous for their art. Their art is usually very colorful and is centered around nature, featuring many different animal and flowers. I wanted to make a shirt that held those central themes that I've often seen and admired. My goal with this pattern is to give the knitter general idea of how this shirt is constructed as well as different things to think about to improve the fit of the tank top. I think pattern modifications are good and help knitwear more wearable. Throughout the pattern, I encourage the knitter to think about how you would like the tank to fit and how one might modify the pattern accordingly. If you are not interested, skip the size modification notes and knit the pattern as written. This tank top features all over stranded colorwork with many different motifs of birds and flowers. (and some cats/snakes!) It is knit in pieces, bottom up, and seamed together. Finished garment circumferences 33" (37") 41" Recommended ease is 0"-4" of positive ease. The sample I am wearing size 2. with ~1" of positive ease. It is Knitting for Olive Pure Silk in the colors Putty and Blue Tit. Using the recommended yarn, all sizes should need 100g/500 yds (2 balls) of a background color and 50g/250 yds (1 ball) of a contrast color. **Difficulty** This is an advanced pattern, with all over stranded colorwork.
