Relief Sweater

The Relief Sweater is a relaxed, oversized sweater featuring a distinctive shoulder construction and a beautifully textured all-over relief pattern. Its generous silhouette and light yet warm fabric make it a comfortable everyday piece with a modern, sculptural look. CONSTRUCTION The sweater is worked in separate pieces. The front and back are worked back and forth from the bottom up. The shoulder straps are then worked to join the front and back and form the shoulder line. The neckline stitches are picked up and worked in the round. The sleeves are picked up around the armholes and worked back and forth, with German short rows used to shape the sleeve caps. Before seaming, the pieces are washed and blocked. The sleeve and side seams are then sewn using mattress stitch. The recommended positive ease is approximately 30–40 cm / 12–16” around the bust, depending on the size and your preferred fit. The sample shown is knitted in size M. The model’s bust circumference is 92 cm / 36.25”, and the sweater is worn with approximately 40 cm / 15.75” of positive ease. If you prefer a less oversized fit, you may choose a smaller size. YARN Holst Garn Cielo 42% baby alpaca 42% superfine merino wool 16% polyamide 125 m / 137 yds per 50 g ball Cielo is a wonderfully light and airy yarn with a soft, fluffy texture. Alternative yarns may also be used as long as you are able to obtain the required gauge and create a fabric with a similar feel and drape. GAUGE 17 stitches × 36 rows = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4” in the relief pattern after washing and blocking.
