The Vest

PATTERN The Vest is a simple and feminine vest with a modern and elegant look. The vest has a close-fitting silhouette with slight waist shaping and a high neckline. The asymmetrical button closure along the neckline gives the design a distinctive look. The shaped double-knit armhole edges create a beautiful finish around the armholes. The Vest is worked from the top down. First, the neckline is worked, after which the asymmetrical opening is shaped. The back neckline is shaped using short rows, while increases are worked to shape the shoulders. The work is then divided, and the fronts and back are worked separately while the armholes are shaped using decreases and increases. The fronts and back are then joined, and the body is worked flat using a circular needle, with decreases and increases creating slight waist shaping. Since the vest is worked from the top down, the length of the body can be adjusted to your preferred length. Finally, double-knit edges are worked around the armholes, and stitches are picked up along the front edges for the button bands. This pattern uses a variety of knitting techniques and has a slightly higher level of difficulty. It is best suited for knitters with some experience and is not recommended for complete beginners.
