Eye of the Storm is a bold fingering weight crochet shawl with strong lines, sharp contrast, and plenty of movement. Worked from the top center out, it grows into a dramatic chevron shape through six sections — double crochet fabric, back loop texture, open chain spaces, and shaped stitches that create those signature lines across the fabric. Each section builds on the last, and the finished piece has real visual weight despite being worked in fingering weight. The two-color construction is what gives this shawl its graphic look. High contrast reads bold and striking — think deep neutrals against a rich variegated. Two softer or more tonal shades give you something quieter. The structure works either way. Fingering weight is ideal here. The fabric drapes the way the design intends, the chevron shape opens up beautifully, and the contrast between your two colors reads crisp and clear. The sample is worked in a 100% bamboo yarn for its sheen and silky drape — any fingering weight you love will do the job. A note on stitch markers: you'll use 11 total in two different styles to track peaks and valleys through the chevron sections. It sounds like a lot, and then it just becomes part of the rhythm. **Finished Size:** 48 inches (122 cm) wingspan by 31 inches (78.5 cm) deep at longest point. **Notions:** * 6 stitch markers all the same color or style for peaks * 5 stitch markers all the same color or style for valleys * Scissors * Tapestry needle
