Sonnet Top is a fitted, cabled halterneck top. It is worked from the bottom up, with the front and back knitted separately, then joined at the sides and shoulders. Choose silk for a light summer version, or a wool-blend yarn for a warmer layer — the same pattern works for both. The hem is worked in rib, and the neckline can be finished as a simple crew neck or, optionally, a mock ribbed neck. Slight increases shape the bust. The cable placement is calculated for each size so the cables fall cleanly at the underarm and neckline shaping. Armholes and the neckline are finished with neat, double-folded bands. **Size gauge** Sonnet Top should have 0–10 cm [0–4 in] of positive ease relative to your chest measurement. Sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 correspond to chest measurements of 80–90 (91–100) 101–110 (111–120) 121–130 cm [31.5–35.4 (35.8–39.4) 39.8–43.3 (43.7–47.2) 47.6–51.2 in]. **Sizes** 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 **Bust circumference** 90 (100) 110 (120) 130 cm [35.4 (39.4) 43.3 (47.2) 51.2 in] **Armhole depth** 20 (21) 22 (23) 24 cm [7.9 (8.3) 8.7 (9.1) 9.4 in] **Length** 48 (50) 52 (54) 56 cm [18.9 (19.7) 20.5 (21.3) 22.0 in] **Suggested yarn** 200 (200) 200 (250) 250 g Silky by Lana Gatto (50 g = 214 m [234 yd]) or 200 (200) 200 (250) 250 g Pinta by Pascuali (50 g = 212 m [232 yd]) or 200 (250) 250 (300) 300 g Silka 8 by Cardiff Cashmere (50 g = 176 m [192 yd]) This pattern works best with a yarn that doesn't hold rib texture too tightly (avoid merino) and a sport weight **Suggested needles** 2.5 mm [US 1.5] needles for body 2.0 mm [US 0] circular needles for neck and armhole bands **Gauge** 32 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in cables on 2.5 mm [US 1.5] needles, after washing and blocking. **Additional materials** tapestry needle, contrast yarn
